About Us

The story behind Step Caddy.  Hi, I'm Nick Fishwick, a dad, an engineer, and the creator of Step Caddy, the best toddler carrier for outdoor fun. In 2014, my kids were 5 years old, small but still heavy, and they had outgrown the big framed carriers. I needed something that could pack up small but still take the weight off my arms, shoulders, and especially my back. So, I made my first prototype (seen in the photo). Finally, after a long pause and two years packed with development and testing, the Step Caddy Child Carrier is ready and is the best portable, packable toddler carrier there is, IMHO.

2014: First Public Outing

This is a pic of me and my kids putting the second prototype through its paces in the harshest of testing environments: the beach at Crissy Field, on a lovely sunny day. The Golden Gate Bridge was our backdrop, as sand relocated itself into my shoes, and the kids were diligently evaluating load‑bearing capacity by using me as a sort of donkey ride.

A Lot of Interest

Despite the positive comments from a handful of curious onlookers, Step Caddy was benched due to life and work. Now, after two years of dedicated development, testing, and dozens of prototypes, we are proud to launch our unique and patented child-carrier.  I just wish we had a Step Caddy 10 years ago!  I hope you enjoy yours and have great times using it on adventures with your kids.
